 NEW ZEALAND TROUT FLY SPECIALIST

Designing and crafting Trout flies is a real passion for me. Since 1983 I have been combining my interests of fresh water ecology and entomology with trout fly development in a practically as I’m a keen fly angler and professional fly fishing guide in New Zealand’s South Island.

The resulting designs are highly original, innovative, effective, robust and most of all fun to fish with, thus increasing angler confidence. Many designs draw upon a mix of traditional and modern materials, and approaches, with only the best quality materials used.

Being blessed with the dual life as a full time guide and trout fly tier you really get to know what flies work and why. With a multitude of waters and conditions and South Islands cunning trout, the fly is of upmost importance!

My original patterns have been featured in New Zealand trout fly calendars {1986thu 1990} RK Bragg’s “New Zealand Fishing Flies” ..Brown Trout Heaven and I have a page in the current 2002   “Art of New Zealand Fly Fishing” by Michael Scheele .

1. I  tie a vast range of individual Trout flies including Nymphs……Dry Flies and Lures {streamers}  Please note a minimum of 6 per pattern.

 2.  Complete, packaged sets of Flies for New Zealand’s Waters. These come complete with written information about each pattern, how to fish with it, and worthy fishing locations.

 3. Framed troutflies collection. These artistic display sets are skilfully crafted incorporating highest standard trout flies unique to New Zealand. Often thematic based around both Traditional and Modern patterns, the frames and backgrounds are New Zealand timbers and hand made papers. During the past decade these have won prizes in many prestigious art exhibitions through out New Zealand. They make great gifts and mementoes. Please note each set is unique and is signed.
