SEASON 1st October to 30th April.

BEST TIME ?...this is a frequently asked question. Our answer is any time during the season !. Each month has it’s own specialty and conditions {weather and water}. These however are not fully predictable {some would like to think so !!!}. Due to our wide coverage, we can always choose the best waters for any given time.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE INFORMATION ON A PARTICULAR TIME OF THE SEASON, AND WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FOR THE FISHING, PLEASE CONTACT US.

BROWN TROUT….consider the "BROWNIE" the "jewel in the crown" and spend most of the time in pursuit of this wonderfully wise and awesome fish. Throughout the BLUE RIBBON WATERS of the SOUTH ISLAND NEW ZEALAND THE BROWN TROUT IS KING AND HEAVENLY ARE OUR WATERS. We treat this creature with absolute respect !!!

RAINBOW TROUT….A good fun fish found in the vibrant fast flowing high mountain streams, gliding spring creeks and panoramic high country lakes. The "BOWS" ARE LARGE IN SIZE AND STRONG IN SPIRIT -a must to experience.

web searunbrown.JPG (64409 bytes)SEA RUN BROWN TROUT….The "SEARUNNER" as Kiwis call them are brown trout with a migratory aspect akin to the sea trout in the UK. These fish often frequent the ocean and coastal areas which supply vast amounts of protein rich foods {crustaceans and baitfish}. In summer and fall they run into streams and rivers and feed upon DRY FLIES and NYMPHS. An instinct instilled in them from days as smelts in the stream. They are very energetic and often found in groups. YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF NEXT TO THE PACIFIC OCEAN OR AWAY INLAND IN PURSUIT OF A SEARUNNER.

FISHING STYLES AND METHODS

MOSTLY SIGHT FISHING USING DRY FLY AND NYMPHS. However INDICATOR FISHING with NYMPHS can also be productive and exciting. The fishing is not easy in many waters but the rewards are immense. We take great pride and pleasure in helping you meet the challenge !!!.

New Zealand's clear waters are legendary...and this quote sums up much of our angling…..

"the opaque oblongs in the pool are trout. That is when you learn , if you have any sense at all , that fishing in New Zealand demands adaptation. You realise that you have never seen clear water. Never seen trout this big or this wild"

-Klinkenberg, 1988
